Make a Girlfriend Day website for 1 August
National Girlfriend Day is August 1. It is not a holiday in the sense of a day off, which is exactly what makes it good: no restaurant pressure, no gift expectation, just a date on the calendar that says 'her'. A page is the right-sized gesture, made in an evening and opened on the day.

Make it about her, not the relationship
An anniversary is about the two of you. Girlfriend Day is about her. Put her on the cover, with her name, in a photo where she looks like herself. Make the story page about who she is: the things she is good at, the way she handles a bad day, the thing that made you notice her first. Keep the 'we' to a minimum. It is a rare chance to make a whole thing that is simply about her, and she will notice that you did.
Nine reasons, with evidence
The reasons page shows nine hearts that flip over. For Girlfriend Day, give each one a piece of evidence. Not 'you are thoughtful', but 'you remembered my sister's exam and texted her before I did'. Specific beats flattering. Write them over a few days and keep a running list in your notes, because the best ones come while you are doing something else. If one makes you laugh as you write it, it is a keeper. If it could be about anyone, replace it.
The story, the songs and the first-night details
The story page is a paragraph on how it started: the first night, the first message, what you were wearing and what she said. Add two or three songs on the vinyl page, each with a title and a Spotify link if you have one: the one from the first drive, the one she plays when she cooks. If you use photos, the magazine holds up to twenty, with a photobooth strip and film strips. A full-page photo with a line written across it makes a good last page.
Send it on July 31, open it on the day
There is no timed unlock, so the timing is yours. Text the link at 12:01 on August 1, or first thing in the morning, with one line, 'Happy Girlfriend Day, I made you something'. You get an email the moment she opens it. Preview it on your own phone the night before: previewing is free and private, so there is time to read it through once and fix the typo you will inevitably find.
Filming the reaction, and getting one back
If you are together, hand her the phone, or ask a friend to film her face as she opens it. If you are apart, the reply box at the end lets her answer in her own words, and you get an email when she writes. Leave the prompt open. People answer a plain 'write me back?' more honestly than a leading question. Either way, you will have something better than a heart emoji to remember the day by.
